Your resume should include the following details:

  • Personal Details - Name, Address, Telephone Numbers and E-mail Address (place of birth and age are optional)
  • Career Objectives
  • Summary of Employment (including Name of Employer, Position and Period of Employment)
  • Summary of Educational History
  • Current Professional Memberships
  • Key Areas of Experience & Competencies (including technical and generic)
  • Full Employment History (including responsibilities and achievements)
  • Extra Curricular Activities and Achievements
  • Referees

Further, a successful resume should present information that:

  • Is relevant, concise and correct
  • Conveys the right message to prospective employers
  • Highlights your strengths and achievements
  • Inspires confidence from the prospective employers
  • Is a truthful representation of your abilities
  • Encourages the reader to want to know more about you
